Philosophy of Care

I listen...

… to your concerns. Most people see doctors because they are concerned about their health. As a patient, you deserve to be treated with utmost respect and genuine compassion. I want you to leave the clinic feeling that your medical concerns have been carefully listened to and addressed.

… to your questions. Your questions are important to me. My communication with you is enhanced when you ask questions and feel that I have clearly answered them. I invite you to make up a list of questions to bring with you to the visit. I will strive to address your health concerns so you have confidence in the medical plans we both agree on.

I care...

…about your health. As a Board-certified internist, I am committed to providing preventive medical care as well as treatment for chronic complex medical problems. I work with you in promoting good health habits that include smoking cessation, maintaining healthy weight, and taking medications regularly and effectively.

…about your family and your loved ones. More often than not, your family members and those that you care about play very important roles in your health. I encourage that, when possible, you include your loved ones in your health care goals. Social support is essential to success in medical
treatment.

I respect...

…your time. Your time is as important as mine. No one should spend an entire morning or afternoon seeing his or her doctor for a routine medical visit. At Fog City Medical Clinic, my staff and I work to shorten your waiting time. We manage scheduling so you can get an appointment when you need one. I make sure to leave enough room in my schedule to give you the attention you deserve. We have same-day appointments available for those who need urgent medical attention.

…your choices. As a patient, you are in charge of your health care. As your personal physician, I provide you with my medical expertise so you can make the most effective plans for your medical care. I offer my medical opinions without overwhelming you with too much information or medical jargon.

…who you are. As a patient, you should never fear you are being judged by your doctor. Each of us has different cultural backgrounds, social values, and personal beliefs. A successful doctor-patient relationship requires respect and trust. Your comfort in being at our clinic and sharing personal information with me is extremely important.
